AJAXWorld 2006: Post-Conference Thoughts Proliferate in the Blogosphere

"AjaxWorld Conference and Expo...had the feel of an early JavaOne"

"AJAXWorld Conference and Expo ... had the feel of an early JavaOne - which is to say, the place was positively quivering with possibility." This, the verdict of John K. Waters, was just one of dozens and dozens of blogs about the conference. From speakers themselves, like Yahoo!'s Bill Scott, to industry analysts like Richard Monson-Haefel and journalists like Infoworld's Paul Krill, the Web verdicts on SYS-CON's inaugural AJAX event in Santa Clara last week are multiplying by the hour...

"It was a conference where the decisions for which panel to attend were seldom easy, and sometimes agonizingly hard," writes Kurt Cagle, perhaps the most prolific AJAXWorld blogger of them all, despite having his own business to conduct at Santa Clara in the course of the fast-paced 3 days.

Kurt, an author and technology evangelist who lives in Victoria, British Columbia, also spoke at the Conference himself. His session was titled "AJAX: Making the Enterprise Jump" - one of the simplest yet most captivating session titles of the Conference. Here is a round-up of some of the comments:

"This past week I spoke at the AJAXWorld Conference here in Santa Clara. Enjoyed giving my talk and had some great conversations afterward. But the highlight was getting to hear my fellow cube-mate, Doug Crockford, give his abbreviated Advanced JavaScript talk . It's definitely great material."

Yahoo! AJAX Evangelist Bill Scott
"At the AJAXWorld Conference, JackBe and TIBCO Software are unveiling initiatives to more tightly link service-oriented architectures and AJAX."

WebSpherePower Magazine
"This was one of the best conferences that I have been to in a long time."

Kurt Cagle
"OpenLaszlo got a great deal of attention at AjaxWorld this week, especially as they describe their efforts around 'Legals' which is their next generation solution that supports multiple runtimes. Although limited in its ability to support all the current GUI controls for DHTML generation, the project certainly looks quite promising. Developers wanting to develop Ajax applications that target multiple runtimes and multple browsers will find the direction that OpenLaszlo very enticing."
