Unify Announces AJAX-Based NXJ Developer for Ultra Fast Development of RIAs

Release is First Collaborative Pdt Delivery for the Recently Merged Unify and Gupta Technologies

Unify Corp., a global provider of development and database software, has announced the immediate availability of NXJ Developer, the latest version of the Company’s flagship, award-winning application development product. Targeted at small to mid-sized corporate IT and VAR and ISV partners, NXJ Developer is designed for the rapid development of Rich Internet Applications that solve pressing business problems in an open, Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) environment. This release of NXJ Developer marks the first collaborative product delivery for Unify and Gupta Technologies (“GUPTA”), which merged on Nov. 20, 2006.

“Our customers are looking for solutions to build Rich Internet Applications with the productivity and cost effectiveness they are use to, while adhering to the open standards of SOA,” said Duane V. George, vice president of development and technical services for Unify. “NXJ Developer enables our customers to make the transition to SOA by developing Rich Internet Applications that simultaneously leverage the usability of traditional desktop applications, the creation and consumption of Web services, and the skill set of their existing application developers.”

NXJ Developer is distinguished by its combination of intuitive visual design, flexible SOA programming, and ease of integration with both Java code and .Net business logic via Web services. The combination of AJAX-rich client technology, Web services, workflow, reporting and portal integration make NXJ Developer a powerful and competitive solution for delivering SOA-based Rich Internet Applications.

NXJ Developer provides the production, consumption, orchestration and administration of Web services in a single platform. A developer is able to quickly define and generate Web services and take advantage of embedded SQL, Single Sign On (SSO) Security and hierarchical data structures. Shared repository libraries and reusable components enable increased productivity for developers and development teams.

“For organizations with mission critical applications that have been in existence for years and continue to ‘simply just work,’ including many of the Unify and GUPTA customer bases, NXJ Developer provides the path forward for extending applications in an SOA environment,” said Todd Wille, chief executive officer of Unify. “For our customers, NXJ Developer will make SOA development a reality.”

NXJ Developer includes all the components a development organization needs to create powerful and innovative SOA and AJAX-based business applications, including the IDE, a JBoss application server and the GUPTA SQLBase embedded database to jumpstart productivity. NXJ Developer connects to a variety of application servers including IBM WebSphere, BEA WebLogic and Oracle Application Server in addition to a large number of databases.

NXJ Developer is now available. A free 45-day trial version may be downloaded from www.guptaworldwide.com and www.unify.com. Priced per seat, NXJ Developer Professional, targeted at SMB IT and ISV developers, is $3,995 and NXJ Developer Enterprise, which includes business process management, is priced at $4,995.
