AJAXWorld University Bootcampers Pull On AJAX's "Roller Skates for the Web"

New York City Event Participants Create a Dojo-Based AJAX Application In a Single Day

From not having ever built an AJAX-style application before, the collective participants at 2007's first AJAXWorld University Bootcamp had by the end of a demanding 9-hour day gone so far as to work with the Dojo's Accordion and Tree control as well as use Dojo's animation libraries to have a key HTML element move around the page following a Bezier curve.

Only 8 hours after having created the main XHTML file and AJAX container for the AJAX application they were to write in the course of the day, most attendees had tried adding the Dojo, Prototype and Script.aculo.us frameworks. (Mixing and matching frameworks is not without issues, but in the absence of any one outright leading framework, is currently necessary.) They then went on to debug their apps and get their functionality working.

By the very end of the day - presided over from start to finish by the Editor-in-Chief of AJAXWorld Magazine, Dion Hinchcliffe - almost everyone had a complete, operational AJAX image-sharing application similar in functionality to the famed AJAX-powered Flickr.

AJAXWorld Magazine editor-in-chief Dion Hinchcliffe addresses the quirks and
quiddities of JavaScript as he helps Bootcamp participants
toward their goal of building a working AJAX application in one day flat.
