ADC Austin and Websydian announced the availability of version 1.4.1 of Websydian WebClient for CA Plex, featuring the latest innovations to the Rich Internet Application (RIA) framework for CA Plex. In this update to WebClient 1.4, customers will experience enhancements including flexible deployment options and advanced AJAX templates. In addition, a new developer portal with Wiki-based documentation, screen videos, and other new features was launched at WebClientIPlus.com.
The primary new features of WebClient 1.4.1 include:
- Unicode Character Support - WebClient now supports web pages in other character sets via a runtime configuration setting, enabling applications to support data in multiple languages, including Japanese and Chinese.
- Deep-linking support - The ability to call a WebClient application from an external application has been enhanced with an XML protocol that allows any set of parameters to be passed in to any Plex function. This feature eases integration with other enterprise Web applications and SOA architectures.
- Advanced AJAX controls - WebClient comes with AJAX templates for Plex control features such as Child Panels (including Tab Strip and Wizard controls). These features allow multi-panel rich screens to be ported to the Web with a minimum of effort. WebClient 1.4.1 also includes many enhancements and improvements to the screen templates, scripts, and application-programming interfaces, further enabling the integration of Plex-based applications into enterprise Web technologies, such as Business Process Modeling (BPM) and Workflow software products.
